I’ve mined one bit cent. I used to be able to get a bitcoin in 2 days.

At this rate, it’d take me over 2 years to get what I got in 2 weeks with slower hardware 2 years ago.

Sure, 2 years bitcoins were 80 cents a pop, and today they closed at $191.09. They cannot possibly have that same growth potential today.

2 years ago I casually mined bitcoins in college after reading about them somewhere. I mined for 2 weeks and then stopped cause I got bored. I just sold the result of those 2 weeks of mining for $1380. I’m kinda kicking myself for not keeping up the mining but also blown away by the fact that running a program on my computer for 2 weeks made me that much money. Anyways, I’m restarting mining to see if it’s still as profitable to mine. My guess is no.

Exactly. Does anyone believe Instagram or Facebook would be stupid enough to do this? Why? Because they’re “evil”? Only an extremely paranoid or insane person would believe that. To make money? Sure, but that money would quickly fall to $0 when everyone left over actually justified outrage.

Despite what everyone would like to believe, these companies are neither stupid nor evil.

If this is accurate, Samsung is on pace to pay Microsoft upwards of $2 billion to use Android this year. That’s Microsoft, not Google.

HTC, which barely made money last quarter after profit fell 57%, may be paying Microsoft around $500 million to use Android this year. That’s Microsoft, not Google.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is paying $1 billion to Nokia each year to ensure they keep using Windows Phone. This is the same Windows Phone operating system that Microsoft charges a fee for OEMs to use. Including Nokia.

Aside from Apple, the entire smartphone ecosystem is very fucked up.
